In 2018, the terms ‘how to vote’ and ‘how to register’ were the topmost ‘how to’ search phrases entered into Google in the USA. In Australia, they saw slightly different results with ‘how to opt-out of my health record’ and ‘how to watch the world cup Australia’ also strong contenders.
2. Searches From Mobile Devices
Roughly a third of all mobile searches were related to “location” with a large portion of these including ‘near me’ as part of the search phrase.
3. Google Search Breakdowns
In 2018, Google also saw a continued shift towards mobile-first experiences with 60% of all searches on Google now from a mobile device. Take a look at search query breakdowns for 2018 below

Google currently captures 95% of the mobile search market in both the USA and around the world. In early 2018, this was 93% which, although a staggering figure in itself, is still an extra few million users that Google acquired in just a few short months.
